All you have to do to enter this mini-challenge is tell me your favorite book. (I can hear you all groaning.) I know that is an impossible request so, to make it easier, I've narrowed the field. Tell me the favorite book you read during each Dewey's Readathon in which you have participated. Please identify by month/season and year. (Example: Spring 2011, The Illustrated Tiddlywink Handbook) For those of you joining us for the first time, just tell me a book you've already completed, or the one you're most looking forward to in the coming hours.
Answers can be submitted as a simple list, a list with pictures, a video of you giving a synopsis of each book, a poem, interpretive dance --- whatever strikes you. I ask only that you leave your entry, or a link to your entry, in the comments below, OR Tweet your entry with the hashtag #readathonmemories.
The winner will be drawn at random at the end of the readathon (or as soon after as I wake up) so be sure to leave me a way to find you. The winner will receive a $15 Barnes and Noble Gift Card or $15 credit at Book Depository. This challenge is open internationally.

DeleteThis is a tough, but overall I think that my favorite Dewey readathon title was either "A Monster Calls" by Patrick Ness or "Buddha in the Attic" by Julie Otsuka. I have read so many great titles during both the Dewey and 24n48 readathon, but those two hit me in the gut. I remember tearing up for both. I read the "Buddha" title in my first readathon and the "Monster Calls" in the last October Dewey readathon. I am hoping to have some more tearjerkers in this years stack.

This is my first readathon! So, I'll just talk about one of my favorite book series: Mistborn, by Brandon Sanderson. Sanderson is AMAZING at world-building and creates such memorable characters and an incredibly intricate magic system. In Misborn, a ragtag group of heroes works together to overthrow the tyrannical overlord demigod of the past 100 years. The 2nd book of the trilogy had me SCREAMING, and the third one had me sobbing.

ReplyDeleteI can only say, last readathon (spring 2017) my fav was: Planet of Judgment (a Star Trek novel, and yes, Judgment ... I always thought it would have to be jugdement, but ... well, I'm not a native speaker).
BUT I try to find my other two favs via Goodreads-stats. I can't promise I read this ones during readathon and not a few hours before or afterwards, but at least they have been read on the readathon days.

In 2015, I read Julie Murphy's Dumplin', which I'm excited to hear is going to be a movie, complete with original Dolly Parton music. (The runner-up for that year is the graphic novel Bandette, which is fun if you enjoy the heist genre.)
