Needlework Tuesday

There hasn't been much stitching this week.  I finished another crazy quilt block just for kicks, and to work on using smaller pieces.  It still needs the embellishments, but I learned a couple new tricks to make the next one easier.

I also received some gorgeous fabrics in a swap:

How does a lady who's never met me and knows nothing of my tastes or interests send all my favorites?  I love anything related to Christmas or Peanuts - so the Snoopy fabric is perfect.  I also love anything Americana, so the beige/flag fabric was added to my stack for some upcoming patriotic projects.

But the best of all is the retro kitchen print.  I've been wanting to re-do my kitchen with more red/aqua.  This print - with the addition of a coordinating red, will become curtains.  The lady who sent me the fabric found it among her great aunt's sewing things.  The price tag was still on it showing that Great Aunt Mattie had purchased it at Woolworth's for ten cents per yard.  Connie (my swap partner) used it to make aprons for her grandmother and aunts.  I feel so honored to receive the remaining yardage. And what an authentic touch to my "retro" kitchen.  Thank you so much, Connie, for the awesome swap package!

  2. Hmmm...I was positive that I commented on this post way back when, but it looks like I didn't. I know I read it, though, because I remember reading about the retro kitchen print and the curtains. Sorry about that. Anyway, I love your crazy quilt block and your new fabrics.
